John V. Dick was a long term Alderman for Coogee in the 1930 to 1950s and sometimes Mayor of Randwick. He was responsible for the large recreation reserve near Coogee Beach that includes tennis courts and bowling greens and was named after him. READ MORE

An interesting headstone in South Coogee's Randwick General Cemetery belongs to pioneer test cricketer Charles Bannerman. He had extraordinary sporting ability and is credited with many "firsts" in international cricket, including the first test "century".
